Keelan Bridge


Swimming and Surf Life Saving
 

AGE: 17
LIVES AT: Lisarow
SCHOOL: CC Grammar School

Keenan is returning for a second time to the Foundation. He won numerous
Gold Medals for the New South Wales Lifesaving team at the National Pool
Rescue Championships at Homebush in Sydney. He also toured New
Zealand with the Australian Under 21 Surf Lifesaving team. He backed that up
by winning Medals at The Australian Titles on the Golf Coast in April.
At the Australian Still Water Titles in Adelaide he finished top 10 in the
backstroke events.

Chloe Costello


Tennis


AGE: 16
LIVES AT: Forrester's Beach
SCHOOL: Terrigal High School

 

 

Chloe has been with the Donnica Clarke Foundation since its inception.
Once again, over the last twelve months, she has a National Tennis
title to her name, and just as importantly, she has been a wonderful
ambassador for the Foundation. Like many of the Foundation Scholarship
Holders, she also excels academically and has been Dux in her grade.

Matthew Dawson 


Hockey


AGE: 17
LIVES AT: Killarney Vale
SCHOOL: St. Edwards Gosford

Matt has been a Scholarship Holder since 2009 and has captained
his State on numerous occasions at various age groups and has
been named Most Valuable Player at the Australian National
Championships. He was selected for the Australian Schoolboy's
Hockey team to tour South Africa this year, but has decided to miss
that tour so that he can represent NSW at Under 21 level which is a
wonerful honour for an athlete of 17 years of age.
 

Wade Eames


Water Polo


AGE: 19
LIVES AT: Bensville
SCHOOL: University of NSW

During the past twelve months, Wase has been selected for the
Australian Water Polo Senior squad and represented Australia
at the Senior FINA World Championships in Japan and China in
July 2010. He was also selected for the Australian Barbarians
that competed in the Tom Hoad Cup in December 2010. That
competition is the most prestigious Water Polo event in the
Southern Hemisphere.

Thomas Elliott


Swimming


AGE: 16
LIVES AT: Wamberal
SCHOOL: Gosford High School
 

Tomas is a second year Scholarship Holder and in the last
twelve months has has won five Gold medlas in the NSW
Championships. He also won two Gold Medals in the 2010
Australian National Championships held in Adleaide, where he  
was a winner of a Bronze Medal in the 100 metres breaststroke event. 

 

Matthew Graham


Mogul Snow Skiing


AGE: 17
LIVES AT: Narara
SCHOOL: C C Grammar School

In January 2010 Matthew made his World Cup debut at Deer Valley
in Utah. He scored an incredible 21.69 and was in the top 20 with
only 15 skiers remaining to compete. His final placing was 27th, only
1.5 points away from making the finals (top16)but he had just met the
International Olympic Committee's individual qualifying mark for the 
2010 Winter Olympics. He missed out this time as Australia was only
awarded two places in the Games.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rachelle King


Swimming, Surf Sports


AGE: 18
LIVES AT: Forresters Beach
SCHOOL: Just completed HSC 2010

Rachelle has returned for a second year at the Foundation. She excels
in several water sports and was a member of the High Performance
Surf Life Saving team that toured New Zealand. In that country's Pool
Rescue Championship she won five Gold Medals, one Silver and one Bronze.
She was named Female Competitior of the Meet. In the similar Australian
Championships she won two Gold, one Silver and One Bronze.

Robert McIntyre


Wildwater Racing


AGE: 18
LIVES AT: Bensville
WORK: Landscaper

Robert had a great 2010! He won all three Open Men's events at the 
Australian Wildwater Championship and also won the Australian School's
Wildwater Rapid Sprint Championship. As a result of his successes he
was selected to represent Australia at the Senior Wildwater Rapid Sprint
Championships at Augsburg in Germany, and other World Cup races in
Slovenia during June 2011. His aim  over the coming year is finish in the
top 25 in the world!

Riley Mckay


Barefoot Water Skiing


AGE: 12
LIVES AT: Noraville
SCHOOL: MacKillop Catholic College

Riley started water skiing when she was five years old! At the age of seven
she was selected for the NSW State team and competed at the National Titles.
By the age of nine she was selected to represent Australia in the Under 17
section of the World Championships in New Zealand, and made it into the
top twenty girls in the world! At the age of eleven she became the Australian
Sub Junior Champion and represented her country in the World Championships
in Germany, where she helped the Australian Junior Team wn a Silver Medal.

Sam Mckeown- Paterson


Swimming


AGE:  15
LIVES  AT:  Saratoga
SCHOOL: Kincumber High School

Sam is in his second year as a Donnica Clarke Foundation Scholarship
Holder and his passion has changed to Open Water Swimming. During
the 2010 swimming season he was selected in the NSW Winter Swim 
Team in the 400 and 1500 metre freestyle. He was third in both distances
at the national Championships in the 14/15 year age groups. He swam at
the NSW Country Titles in February last ytear and broke the existing records
in the 200, 400 and 1500 metre freestyle events.


Amy Nurthen


Surf Life Saving


AGE: 19
LIVES AT: Bateau Bay
WORK:  Mingara
Amy is returning for a second year with the Foundation, and has just
completed her best year of her career. In the Nutri-Grain Ironwoman
series she finished fourth on the Sunshine Coast, but had the biggest
win of her young life in the toughest conditions she had ever faced at
the infamous Portsea in Victoria. She then won numerous Australian
Titles in the Under 19 category including the prestigious Ironwoman event.

 

Alex Silcock


Tennis


AGE: 17
LIVES AT: West Gosford
SCHOOL: Gosford High School

 

Alex Silcock is a new addition to the Foundation and joins Chloe Costello
representing the sport of Tennis. He began playing at the age of five and
realised he had a special talent  for the sport, and decided to commit all
his energies to improving his game. He already holds an Australian record
by winning consecutive National School titles and is aiming to win a third
this year in Bendigo, Victoria.

 

Lachlan Staples


Swimming


AGE: 20
LIVES AT: Kincumber
WORK: Lifeguard

 

Lachlan is a founder Scholarship Holder having been selected in the
first year of the Foundation. 2010 was an "up and down year" for him with 
many good performances, but also a set back, when he broke his hand in
July when doing training on his bicycle. At the Australian Open, which also
served as the Commonwealth Games Trials, he was placed fifth in the 200
metre butterfly in a very close finish, and also made the finals in the 50 and
100 metres.

 

 

 

Mitchell Tysoe


Athletics 


AGE: 18
LIVES AT: Springfield
WORK: Apprentice in family business

Mitchell has returned to the Foundation for a second year and ended 2010 in
the top six in the World Juniors as a 110 metre hurdler. At the World Junior
Championships held in Canada, he finished sixth in the 110 metres final
running a NSW record time of 13.72 seconds. At the World Youth
CHampionships in Italy, he finished ninth in the final. At the Pacific School

Games he won the 110 metres hurdles in a Games record time and was
second in the 100 metre sprint.
