Iron woman AMY NURTHEN had one of the biggest wins of her career at the weekend; taking out the prestigious Central Coast Sportsperson of the Year Award.

The Terrigal lifesaver defeated a star-studded line up, including World Tour surfer Rebecca Woods, and Rugby International Cobie-Jane Morgan. See Amy's interview with NBNTV below:

AMY NURTHEN has continued her preparation for the Nutri-Grain Series, with a standout performance at the weekend.

The Terrigal lifesaver won the ski, board and Iron Woman events, at the New South Wales Endurance Championships at Ocean Beach.

MATTHEW DAWSON has been advised by Hockey Australia that he was one of eleven newly identified
athletes for 2011 to be added to the National Futures Gro
up and has been asked to attend  the National Futures
Camp in Canberra late in December. During that period he will be part of the squad to play three matches
against the New Zealand Under 18 team.

Earler this month he was a member of the Newcastle team that competed in the NSW Sate Indoor Hockey
Championships and his team defeated Central Coast 5 - 3 in the Second Division Final.

Busy boy who will glad when the Christmas break comes along!!


MATT GRAHAM has had the biggest result of his young career by defeating the current Olympic Gold                                                 
medalist in the James Boag ABOM Dual Moguls at Victoria's Mount Buller last Friday. WOW!!

CHLOE COSTELLO has taken out an exciting double at the recent NSW Metropolitan Hardcourt
Championships played at Parramatta over the school holidays.

 

She won the Under 16 girls title by defeating No. 4 seed Rhiannon Marlin 6-1 6-2 in the final, and then 
paired with local Central Coast player Ella Merritt to win the Under 16 girls title 6-1 6-3. WELL DONE CHLOE!

 


 MATTHEW DAWSON has recently returned from Perth where he was a member of the NSW Under 21

team that won the Silver Medal in the Australian Championships. NSW won five of seven competition
matches and defeated South Australia 9-1 in the semi final but went down 2-1 in the final against
Western Australia by a golden goal in extra time.


MATT
was the youngest player in the NSW squad and his coach Matthew Smith praised him for his
performances, saying:


"MATT'S
performances over the Championships were well above my expectations and he showed that
he could compete at this level quite comfortably. He outplayed many of his older teammates during the
tournament
and should be proud of his achievements, and I have no doubt with his willingness to learn
that he will be a key part of future representative teams"

MATTHEW DAWSON has beeen awarded the prestigious Pierre De Coubertin Australian Olympic
Committee Schools Award 2011 following a nomination by his school, St. Edwards College
.


The Award is presented to young athletes who "emulate the philosophy and ideals of the
Olympic movement." HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS TO MATTHEW!


LACHLAN STAPLES has got back into competition following his broken bones in his arm and swam
a cou-le of races in February as test swims. He then entered the Australian Open Titles in April
and reached the finals of the 100 and 200 Fly event. He won a Bronze Medal in the 200 Fly but finished
8th in the 100.


He then raced in the NSW State open in early June and won Gold Medals in the 100 and 200
but finished 4th in the 50 Fly. The races were good tests for his injuries and proved that the hard work
he had been doing had paid off. He will now compete in the Australian Open Short Course
Championships in Adelaide in July this year.


MATTHEW DAWSON was a member of the NSW Under 18 Hockey team that defeated previously
unbeaten Quensland in the National Championships Final in Hobart earlier this month.


Following the win MATT was included in a squad of NSW Hockey players that have been invited to
attend a Hockey Australia, NSW based futures camp being held in Canberra on the 10th to 12th June.
The camp will give MATT exposure to the the Men's National Coach, Richard Charlesworth and to
Men's National Assistant Coach, Graham Reid


CHLOE COSTELLO and ALEX SILCOCK competed in the School Sports Australia Pizzey Cup earlier
this month with CHLOE being a member of the victorious Girl's team. ALEX was beaten in his final but
the Boy's team were still winners giving a double to NSW.


Following the completion of the event both CHLOE and ALEX were named in the Australian Under 18 merit team.


ROBERT McINTYRE has recently returned from competing in the Sprint World Championships in Germany
and the World Cup in Slovenia.
